Just letting everyone out there know that I am still alive, just busy.
Been getting to bed at a reasonable time, for the most part. However, the last couple of nights I have been up a bit later than I would like and that has resulted in me being the LATE one. Not this morning, I beat Jeremy into the office. I was exhausted this weekend and spent a good chunk of it napping. Gina had a cold a few days ago, I think I might have caught that bug too. I tend to get wiped out when I have a cold. But a weekend of rest seemed to help immensely. Well, I have a packed day of conference calls and meetings. So I best get back to finishing up this paperwork before others start pouring into the office. Laterz Saturday, October 6. 2007Pretty much back to normal
I think I have finally kicked the funk.
It was a long, long week. We launched the new Jaduka corporate site, this meant a few late nights this past week, which when combined with still being a little bit under the weather was just not fun. But with the corporate site launched and me being over the funk will let me to focus on getting John's Weasel site prototype finished. I plan to work on it all weekend (no Halo3 till it is done.) Laterz Sunday, September 30. 2007Sinus woes
I would consider myself better, though not yet 100% back to normal.
Still in the 90% range, give or take 5%. My sinuses are still pretty mucked up, but I don't feel sick, just a little congested. "Better out than in." Is a saying that Gina has used often. Usually when she is sick. Anyway, the funk has spread its way through the office. I stayed home from work on Tuesday, the worst day for me. We went to the Alamo for the 3pm showing the Resident Evil: Extinction, it was good. The ending was just a little lame. It left it open for a fourth movie, but at the same time didn't provide enough closure for me. I tend to be too critical of endings though. So see it for yourself. I took a nap when we got back, but ended up sleeping all night. We went out to breakfast at The Original Pancake House. Gina had a craving for Corned Beef Hash and I remember seeing it on their menu. It was a good breakfast, she loved the corned beef hash. Did I mention they had pumpkin pancakes? She had the pumpkin pancakes as well, she loved anything with pumpkin. From what she said the pancakes didn't let her down. I had a simple yet, slightly boring breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and three buttermilk pancakes. It was quite tasty and I have to throw this out, their pancakes did not make me go narcoleptic. Usually pancakes from IHOP or Denny's make me go narcoleptic. Well, I am going to drink some more Vernors and try to relax without falling asleep. Laterz Tuesday, September 25. 2007Funk Sagas
So I have a cold.
I felt all sniffly yesterday afternoon, but it felt more like allergies. When I got home though it hit me like a Mac truck to use a cliche. I spent the day working from home. However, I am definitely not at 100% working capacity it is hard to concentrate, but there is some stuff that I have to get done. And unfortunately a few gotchas sprung up throughout the day so I have had to field those and have not been able to finish the one task that I really wanted to put to rest today. I figured I would take a quick minute to put up a blog post and inform those who haven't heard me on the phone yet that I am sick. I also want to thank everyone for their birthday wishes and the gifts that I have received. I will put up some pics of the cookie basket that I got from my In-Laws. Filled to the brim with wonderfully decadent cookies. I am also due to receive a copy of Halo3 via delivery from John and Gina bought me a DVD and a copy of the Civ4 expansion pack, Beyond the Sword. There is a caveat to Gina's game gift, I have to get the prototype of John's Weasel site up before I am allowed to play. Sorry that is taking so long John. Well back to the after hours grind. Laterz Wednesday, June 20. 2007I think I might have a cold
I have coughed a couple of time in the last two days, in a way that isn't just a 'clearing my throat' kind of way.
I think, I am going to try to turn in early tonight. The ARS guys are coming over to do the duct work tomorrow. I will be working from home while they do that. Hopefully, it keeps raining tomorrow too, and thus keep the house cool while the AC is off. It is raining today, which could also be why I feel kind of blah. So, the new AC is doing its job the house is nice and cool. It is quieter and I believe that the AC has been on less than before. Once the new duct work is in, then that will hopefully up the airflow (ie pressure coming out of the vents). I was a little late getting to work, so I sorry, can't do a longer post. Back to the grind. Laterz Thursday, May 10. 2007Emma Video
I uploaded the video I shot on Tuesday to YouTube.
I took off work again early to go and see her yesterday. She was doing so much better. She still can't move her legs properly, but she is trying to walk around on them. Gina says that the next two weeks are the critical in terms of making recovery. So Emma will be going to physical therapy as often as we can get her there. I am going to put together a website for her, to track her recovery, I am not sure what the domain name will be yet. I will post pictures at lunch time. Back to the grind. Laterz Wednesday, May 9. 2007Emma Update - Not her spine
Gina just told me that the Radiologist who was looking at her x-rays didn't see anything on her spine.
They are very confident that it is the FCE that did this. The vet tech has stated that Emma has been standing more today. I am going to swing by after work and check on her again. This time I am going to ask to hold Lula (we call her that from time-to-time). Gina says that she has to stay there one more night then we start hydrotherapy. I can't wait till she comes home. Back to the grind. Laterz Wednesday, May 9. 2007Emma Update
I took off of work early yesterday and swung by the Gallery of Pets to buy Emma some Nature's Variety kibble, so that she can keep eating healthy, even when she is at the Vet's office. They had a little stand setup with stuffed dog squeaky toys, I bought her a pig one, it was bigger than the toys we usually get them, but I wanted her to have something she could cuddle up with, given that she is away from us and her brothers, Curly, Buddy and Basil.
Jeremy came along with me, I am his ride while he is here in Austin for training. I got turned around when trying to get there, so it took a little bit longer than I had been expecting. My poor little girl, she was hooked up to an IV and was definitely happy to see us, but she still can't use her legs on her left side, so at one point she fell over. This killed me, I will admit I teared up a bit. For a dog that runs and jumps and knows no fear, it got to me that she couldn't stand up. I took some pics while we were there and I think I shot a movie. We fed her, she hoovered the food down in classic Emma fashion, so at least I know that she is doing good. Gina said that the Vet decided against the CT scan and was going to instead do the dye test. They are pretty sure that it is one of two things, the Dr. Caplan (correct spelling), had consulted with a neurologist at Texas A&M, and they think that it is either a ruptured disc that is blocking the signals or possibly FCE. In either case, Gina & the Vet are sure that Emma is likely to recover to a state close to her old self. However, it will mean lots of physical therapy and Gina is going to have acupuncture done on Emma too. The dye test will be done this morning so we should know a better diagnosis by this afternoon. Back to the grind. Laterz Monday, February 19. 2007Must sleep!
I still have some congestion in my sinuses but overall I am feeling worlds better.
So much better I stayed up till 3am on Sunday night coding on the DevZone. I got a lot done in the last 2 hours. I definitely have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. But thanks to the work I did tonight it should be much easier. I got the new DevZone to the point where it calls the api methods to create JadukaDeveloper. I got the functionality built in to allow folks to log out, and log back in. (Essential things) There is some stuff that I have had to cut corners on, like page redirects. However, I coded in some fail safes that should keep folks from hitting refresh and getting an unexpected reaction. I have to say that without mod_rewrite this project would have taken much, much longer. Well, I am going to go and hit the hay. I see that Jeremy weighed in, down to 281. A round of applause for my buddy Buddha. He is sure to break out of the 280s any time now, which means that our battle royal will begin soon. And needless to say, I am not prepared. But such is life, I will get my ass in gear and give it my best. "Do or do not, there is no try." - Yoda Sorry, HBO has had the Star Wars movies in high rotation the last couple of weeks. Night, Laterz. Saturday, February 17. 2007Burning the 9pm oil
Well, I'm feeling way better than I have in the last week.
However, I am still not 100%. I'm guessing that will come tomorrow or Monday morning. I still have some nasal congestion and a bit of a sinus headache. Gina has been doing laundry all day. I on the other hand have been sleeping a good portion of the day away, but being sick and all that is probably a good thing. She still has a wicked cough. However, I think that is mostly related to the dry air and her being allergic to Texas. Yes, I said it the whole state of Texas. I have to get a couple of hours of work done tonight before I retire back to bed. To help me accomplish this I have put in one of my favorite DVDs, High Fidelity. I know what some of you might be asking. "How can he work and watch a DVD?" I can't. However, I am not actually watching the movie. I'm more or less just listening to it. Normally, I have my headphones on and listen to music while I work (at work). At home, I crank up the speakers and listen to MP3s off the computer. However, right now I feel more like listening to a movie that I already know. I have found that if I am listening to new music or trying to listen to a movie I don't know, I end up getting distracted. If I listen to music or movies that I have heard or watched enough to know it almost completely by heart, then I can ignore it. I don't like silence. Unless it is out in the country, you know like camping, that is different. But silence in the home, it is just unnerving. I picked High Fidelity because I wanted to watch it the other day and Gina wasn't feeling like it. For some reason I have had "Top 5 Lists" on my mind lately. Well, I best get back to working, so that I can get a good night's sleep tonight. Laterz |
