I just finished cleaning out the old PC here and with that I evicted some serious dust bunnies from within the case. It has probably been almost a year since I gave the entire PC a cleaning.
Now, since it has been almost a year since I cleaned out the PC of bunnies made of dust. One might wonder why I decided to do that today. It stems from the fact I installed a new wireless networking card today.
Gina and I did some shopping today. REI was having a sale on Keens and since I love mine so much I really wanted to have another pair (another color too). They also had Timbuk2 messenger bags on sale (25%) off. Gina has been using my old one for a while and seems to like it, so we picked out a gray and green bag. It also happens that the cell phone pouch Timbuk2 has is the perfect fit for her new phone, which I need to correct the record is a Palm Treo 680 not a Palm Treo 650.
Then we made our way over the CompUSA, they were also having a Labor Day sale.
So I wanted to see if they had anything good. They had some cool stuff on sale. But I had not seen anything I couldn't live without, that is until I hit the networking section. I have been wanting to get a new wireless card for my desktop for a while. The USB one that I have has flaked out on me a few times, for no real reason at all.
There are two other nice things about the new wireless NIC.
1. It is 802.11G, so that means I am connecting to my Access Point at speeds up to 54Mbps, instead of 11Mbps.
2. It is PCI based, which means that the data is actually transferred to and from my computer faster, since it isn't USB. Now with only an 11Mbps signal, I wouldn't care much about the bottleneck of USB, but with 54Mbps, no point it even allowing for some sort of bottleneck.
I guess another nice thing is that I will have one less thing sitting on top of my desk.
I just finished watching Ghost Rider, it was not too bad. I am glad that I got it on Netflix and didn't pay for it at the store. As with most comic book movies these days the effects were GREAT, but the plot was a little weak. Now, I never read much Ghost Rider growing up, so I have no idea how well it kept to the storyline.
Well, I need to check with Gina and see what we are doing for dinner and get back to working on the Weasel Site.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I am going to be making some chili this weekend.
